April 12 Event Honors Dr. Ball

Respect:
The Most Powerful Dimension of Educational Goodness

An address by Sara Lawrence-Lightfoot
Thursday, April 12, 2007 at 7:30 p.m., Meeting Room
Followed by Dessert and Discussion

Head of School Earl J. Ball will retire in June after 31 years of extraordinary leadership and devotion to Penn Charter. As a tribute to that leadership and to his intellectual curiosity, please join us for an evening of stimulating ideas and conversation built around an address by Sara Lawrence-Lightfoot.

A sociologist and professor of education at Harvard University, Lawrence-Lightfoot examines the culture of schools, the patterns and structures of classroom life, socialization within families and communities, and the relationships between culture and learning styles.

Asked how he would like to celebrate his retirement from Penn Charter, Earl Ball talked of an intellectually stimulating evening bringing together adults in the school community and educators outside PC. He wanted to invite a nationally respected speaker to address an issue of relevance to Penn Charter and to education in America. And he chose Sara Lawrence-Lightfoot.

Parents, alumni, faculty, staff and friends -- please join us on April 12. RSVP to Jennifer Cubbin at jcubbin@penncharter.com
