Ninth Grade Parents Meet
College Counseling Team

The College Counseling Office will host its annual "Coffee with the College Counselors" program for the parents of ninth graders for five days during the week of January 29, 2007. The sessions for parents of the Class of 2010 will take place from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. in the Overseers Room; see schedule below for session assignments.

These informal coffee hours are designed to introduce parents to the college counseling team, give an overview of the Penn Charter college counseling philosophy. reduce anxiety, and provide an opportunity for questions and answers about the college process. The topics the counselors plan to discuss include:
- Creating a Strong College Application: objective vs. subjective
- Academic Course Planning: rigor of curriculum vs. academic performance
- Standardized Testing: what to do when
- Extracurricular Involvement: the importance of depth and commitment

So that these morning programs can be personal and interactive, the Class of 2010 families have been divided alphabetically by last name. The College Counseling Office asks that parents try to attend the program date to which they were assigned.
- Monday, January 29, Acquaviva - Delaney
- Tuesday, January 30, Dickey - Herrmann
- Wednesday, January 31, Hockman - Martina
- Thursday, February 1, Mattsson - Ronan
- Friday, February 2, Rowland - Zacharjasz
