Competition Cup ends in a tie: PC 4 wins GA 4 wins
Penn Charter won the football
game 21-10 Saturday in the 120th annual football rivalry between
the two teams, a match up that is the oldest continuous schoolboy
rivalry in the county.
The competition between the
two schools has grown over the years, and so has the number
of athletic contests scheduled for the annual match-up. Boys
and girls now compete in eight sports, including football.
The two schools tied 4-4 overall on Saturday and shared the
Competition Cup, which was established in 1996 to honor the
school that achieved overall excellence on PC/GA Day.
The annual competition - known
as PC/GA Day by Penn Charter fans and GAPC Day by Germantown
fans - switches locations each year; Germantown Academy hosted
this year's games at its campus in Ft. Washington.
The wins in football and boys
water polo clinched Inter-Ac titles for those teams. Senior
Sean McNally ran for 134 yards and took home the coveted Geis
Trophy as MVP.
