Science
Wing Dedication Honors Teachers, Parents
Students, parents, alumni and
teachers gathered on Sept. 30 to celebrate the opening of
the new Upper School science wing, which includes state-of-the-art
technology and new labs for biology, chemistry and physics.
"Today we bring together
the latest in technology with one of the most important attributes
of the school: extraordinarily talented people who are dedicated
to spending their lives as teachers," said Earl J. Ball,
head of school.
The new labs feature computer-compatible
workstations as well as the latest in technology and safety
features. Each lab has a new generation, larger format, SmartBoard
and DLP projection system. A new local bank of gigabit network
switches and a powerful G band wireless system provide the
science wing the fastest network access in the school. Safety
improvements include new eyewashes and showers, installation
of large and visible gas shutoff buttons, and relocation of
chemical closets to the central office area for better monitoring
and ventilation and to eliminate the need to cart chemicals
through the chemistry lab.
