Register for Penn Charter Cardiac Screening Day: Dec. 15

Register for Penn Charter Cardiac Screening Day
Sunday, Dec. 15, 8 am-4 pm, Field House

Simon's Fund, a local nonprofit organization that was behind the passage of Pennsylvania's Sudden Cardiac Arrest Prevention Act, will be providing free heart screenings for Penn Charter students (not just athletes), ages 10–19, on Sunday, Dec. 15, in PC's Dooney Field House. Students from Germantown Academy, Germantown Friends and Springside Chestnut Hill Academy are also invited. Simon's Fund was established in 2005 in memory of Simon Sudman, the three-month-old son of Phyllis and Darren Sudman who died of a heart arrhythmia that causes sudden cardiac arrest and death. Learn more about sudden cardiac arrest in this public service announcement on the website.

You must register for an appointment for your child or children, ages 10-19, to be screened. A parent or guardian must accompany the student to the screening. We hope that you will take advantage of this opportunity. If you have any questions about the screening, please contact PC nurse Debra Foley, PC athletic trainer Tom Yabor or Darren Sudman.

We need your help. We are looking for adult volunteers to work during the cardiac screening event in non-medical roles in shifts of two or preferably four hours. Volunteers will be asked to work the registration and check-out desk and to direct students to appropriate stations. Please sign up here. Contact Debra Foley with any questions.
