Mike McGlinchey OPC ’13, now playing on the offensive line for the University of Notre Dame, is bringing the Fighting Irish to Penn Charter on Saturday for a closed practice before the game that evening with the red-hot footballers of Temple University.
Before we get into the details, you also should know that John Loughery OPC ’11 and Eric Neefe OPC ’13 are members of the Temple Owls!
So … Go Owls! Go Irish! #pcproud
We are excited to host the Notre Dame team and to have them practice – technically the session is called a walk-through, and the players wear no helmets – at Penn Charter, on our newly installed synthetic turf Stadium Field.
In scheduling the visit, we accepted certain restrictions imposed by Notre Dame and by the NCAA.
- The walk-through is a closed session not open to spectators.
- The Penn Charter campus will be closed on Saturday, and all of the entrances will be staffed by security.
- Campus will reopen at noon.
The Penn Charter home football game against Episcopal Academy has been rescheduled to 2 p.m (from 11 a.m.) Our football players will have a team breakfast in the Old Gym on Saturday, and they will be able to catch a glimpse of the Notre Dame players.
Although spectators won't have access to campus on Saturday, the Showtime reality show "A Season with Notre Dame Football," is embedded with the team and will be here Saturday — so maybe Penn Charter will make primetime next Tuesday, Nov. 3.
