MEETING FOR WORSHIP
Meeting for Worship is a time of silent
reflection based on the Quaker belief that each person communes
individually with God. Meeting is held regularly at Penn
Charter and is respectful of all faiths. Students, faculty
and staff regularly gather for Meeting by division, according
to the schedule shown below. Parents are welcome to attend
in their child's division; they are especially encouraged
to join other parents for monthly Meeting for Worship for
parents as listed below.
Lower School students attend Meeting each
Wednesday for 20 minutes beginning at 8:30 a.m., usually
in their classrooms and sometimes in the Meeting Room in
the Upper School; kindergarten children join the rest of
Lower School for Meeting after Thanksgiving, and pre-kindergarten
holds weekly Meeting for Worship every Wednesday in their
classroom.
Middle School students gather for Meeting
each Thursday from 9:45 to 10:25 a.m., in the Meeting Room
in the Upper School or in advisory groups.
Upper School students gather for Meeting
each Thursday from 11:05 to 11:45 a.m., in the Meeting Room
in the Upper School or in advisory groups.
Open Meeting for Worship: All in the community,
including parents and grandparents, are invited to socialize
and enjoy a continental breakfast in the dining hall from
7:45 to 8:10 a.m. and gather for Meeting in the Meeting
Room on the second floor of the Upper School on the following
dates in 2008-2009: Oct. 2, Nov. 6, Dec. 4, Jan. 8, Feb.
5, March 12, April 2, May 7.
