I was greatly disappointed when the decision was made to make my beloved alma mater co-ed.  It had always been understood that if one wanted a high-quality co-ed educational experience, he/she could attend our sister school Friends Select, and if he wanted an all-boys experience, he could attend Penn Charter.  Why the opportunity for making that fundamental choice was eliminated remains a mystery to me. At least for me, there would have been too many distractions if there had been girls all around when I was trying to conjugate my Latin, which is why my parents and I made the considered choice of Penn Charter over very fine co-ed possibilities in the same area and downtown.
