College Search for Junior Families Kicks Off Jan. 10

The College Counseling Office will host the annual College Kick-Off Program for Juniors and Parents on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007. The program, which is compulsory for junior families, begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Meeting Room and is designed to give parents and juniors an introduction to the college search process.

The program will feature discussion of the college search process, including:
- Goals of the College Search Process
- The College Search Timeline
- Standardized Testing - What to Take When
- The Importance of Visiting Campuses
- Team Work: Defining the Roles of the Student, Parent, and College Counselor
- Utilizing Data via Technology
- Financial Aid & Scholarships

Personalized registration codes will also be distributed to parents for access to Naviance / Family Connection (students were given access codes in December). For the past five years, Penn Charter has utilized this web-based technology to assist students with their college searches and to manage application activity.

The college counselors are eager to help families initiate their college search process. In the meantime, juniors will continue to meet with college counselors weekly during Junior Seminar.
