Dear
Friends:
As
chair of the Community's Committee on Alcohol and Drug Education,
I would like to extend a special invitation to Upper School
parents and students to join us for two important programs
about adolescent alcohol and drug use.
When my son was in the Middle School, I attended the annual
Freedom from Chemical Dependency (FCD) programs and each year
learned valuable, new information about alcohol and drug abuse
practices, patterns and substances. This year, the FCD program
has been expanded to include all Upper School parents, and
I am certain that you will find it worth your time. The Heads
Up program offered by the Narcotics Bureau of the Philadelphia
Police Department is new to Penn Charter and offers a graphic
look at the damage that drugs can cause for young and old
alike.
Alcohol and drug issues are real in all communities, including
PC, and we cannot overstate the importance of parent involvement
with, and education about, these vital subjects. Please join
us. Our concern is the health and well-being of your child,
and all of our children.
Sincerely,
Karen Spencer Kelly
Chair, Community Committee on Alcohol and Drug Education
