Brian
McCloskey OPC '82
Resigns as PC Football Coach
After 21 years coaching Penn
Charter football, including 13 of those years as head coach,
Brian McCloskey OPC '82 has decided to resign from the team's
coaching staff. A member of PC's mathematics department, McCloskey
will continue to teach math in Upper School.
McCloskey decided that, at this
point in his teaching career, he wants to explore the application
of technology to teaching mathematics. A father of two young
children, he also wants to dedicate more time to the increasing
needs of his family.
In a letter announcing McCloskey's
decision, Head of School Darryl J. Ford described him as a
model of a teacher-coach in a Quaker school.
"His success at winning games
and league titles is only a piece of his remarkable tenure,"
Ford wrote. "Brian's professional demeanor, his care for each
player as an individual, his commitment to collaboration and
to excellence make him a powerful example for our students
and his fellow coaches."
Ford acknowledged the history
of the school's football program and announced that Director
of Athletics Paul Butler would begin a search for a new head
coach.
