Exhibits in Special Gifts Gallery
An exhibition of large paintings
by Ben Weinberg OPC '92 debuted in the Special Gifts Gallery
from Jan. 18 through Feb. 28, 2005.
During a Gallery Talk, Weinberg
spoke about the influence of geometry and architectural lines
in his art. He answered questions about the inclusion of photographs
-- digital images printed on canvas and seamlessly woven into
the paintings. Randy Granger, head of Penn Charter's visual
arts department, discussed Weinberg's treatment of color and
perspective.
Weinberg frequently uses landmark
sites as subjects. Included in this show were paintings of
Times Square in New York City, the Delano Hotel in Miami,
and the Waterworks and Ben Franklin Bridge in Philadelphia.
His paintings employ a variety of paint applications, altered
computer images and graphic elements of abstract fantasy.
Weinberg has degrees in art
history and law from the University of Pennsylvania. He studied
painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and
is a member of the bar in New York and Pennsylvania. He currently
lives in Miami, where he works full time in his art studio.
