JANUARY, 2017

  • January 7 - Gap Year Fair at PC; 1pm-2pm speaker; 2pm-4pm fair
  • January 13 - registration deadline for February 11 ACT
  • January 21 - SAT
  • Individual student appointments with college counselor begin
  • Junior Seminar continues until end of Quarter 2 

FEBRUARY, 2017

  • February 10 - registration deadline for March 11 SAT

MARCH, 2017

  • March 2-3, Eleventh grade class trip to Washington, D.C. (includes college visits)

APRIL, 2017

  • April 24 - College Case Studies program for 11th grade students and parents, 7pm

MAY, 2017

  • May 1-12 - AP exams
  • May 2 – PACAC Main Line College Fair at Villanova University, 6:30pm – 9pm
  • May 5 - registration deadline for June 10 ACT
  • May 6 – SAT or SAT Subject Tests (Juniors are encouraged to take two or three Subject Tests in Math Level I or II, U.S. History, a science, or a foreign language depending on their academic strengths)
  • May 9 - registration deadline for June 3 SAT or SAT Subject Tests
  • Request two (2) teacher letters of recommendation
  • May 24 - Essay Writing Workshop hosted by English faculty & college counselors
  • May 24 – Independent Schools’ College Fair at Germantown Academy, 6:30pm

JUNE, 2017

  • Deadline to request two (2) teacher letters of recommendation prior to close of school
  • June 3 – SAT or SAT Subject Tests (Juniors are encouraged to take two or three Subject Tests in Math Level I or II, U.S. History, a science, or a foreign language depending on their academic strengths)
  • June 10 – ACT  (please note that this is the same day as PC Commencement)

JULY, 2017

  • September 7 – Nuts & Bolts Evening Program for Class of 2018 Parents, 7pm
  • September 8 - registration deadline for October 7 SAT or SAT Subject Tests
  • College admissions representatives start visiting Penn Charter
  • Student access to Naviance is switched to “view only” capability
  • September 9 – ACT
  • September 22 - registration deadline for October 28 ACT
  • Students begin submitting “Pink Sheets”
  • Confirm two (2) teacher recommendations

OCTOBER, 2017

  • Individual student conferences continue
  • October 1 - Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) available to file as required
  • October 1 - CSS Financial Aid Profile available to file as required
  • October 5 - registration deadline for November 4 SAT or SAT Subject Tests
  • October 7 – SAT or SAT Subject Tests
  • October 18 - Financial Aid program for Philadelphia Independent School families
  • October 28 – ACT
  • Visit colleges over Columbus Day Weekend (spend night in dorms, attend classes, interview)
  • College admissions representatives continue to visit Penn Charter
  • Prepare Early Decision, Early Action, and Rolling applications
  • Students continue to submit “Pink Sheets”
  • Senior Seminar continues in Quarter 1
