All-School Book Fair

November 13-16, 2017, Old Gym

What started eight years ago as an experimental labor of love in the Lower School Trask Library has grown into our successful All-School Book Fair at Penn Charter. Not only does the Book Fair financially support Penn Charter's two libraries, Trask and Gummere, but it also creates among our students a frenzy of excitement about reading – gotta love that! Proceeds from previous years' book fairs helped pay for new databases, new shelving, and plenty of new books!

This year's Book Fair will have a wide array of titles, appealing to all ages, from toddlers to adults, and covering all interests, from fiction best-sellers and award-winners to cookbooks and poetry, and everything in between. Books will be separated by genre and age. We will also have snacks for sale.

Volunteers Needed

As you can probably imagine, this big undertaking will require significant help from the Penn Charter Parent Community. We hope you will join us for an hour or two at some point during the Book Fair. Depending on when you sign up, tasks may include setting up, transacting sales, helping younger students navigate the book fair, restocking books, selling snacks, wrapping book purchases or breaking down the shelving. For a complete listing of volunteer dates and times, there will be an All-School Book Fair Volunteer Sign-Up. We thank you in advance for your support!

Location! Location! Location!

The All-School Book Fair will be held in the Old Gym, located on the second floor of the Upper School building. It is easiest to access the Old Gym through the red door near the archway leading from the kindergarten playground area to the football field. Once inside, climb the staircase on your right, and the entrance to the gym will be in front of you when you reach the top. You can also reach the Old Gym by entering the double red doors at the front entrance of the main building, climbing the staircase on your right, and proceeding straight down to the end of the hallway. For many of you, this might be your first time venturing into the halls of Upper School, but there's no need to worry. Paths to the Book Fair from the Lower School and Middle School buildings will be clearly marked.

Teacher Wish Lists

Teacher wish lists will be on display throughout the book fair. If you would like to acknowledge a teacher, you can purchase a book for their classroom or for one of the libraries in their honor. For each book purchased, we will include a bookplate commemorating the honor.

We look forward to seeing you at PC's All-School Book Fair!
