Parents Share Expertise, Passions

The Parent Community has launched Parent to Parent: Connecting Our Community, a teach-and-learn workshop program in which Penn Charter parents and caregivers share expertise and common interests.

"We have something to teach and so much to learn!" Parent Community co-chairs Laura Sibson and Jennifer Fiss wrote in announcing the new program.

The next workshop teaches basic techniques for practicing mindfulness meditation, and the last in the series offers insight and advice from personal coach and PC parent Lynn Seth about managing the demands of a busy life.

In between, parents may explore how to access creative genius, learn what to do with a child's art projects, visit a Friends Center exhibit on World War II Japanese labor camps, and visit the African American Museum's interactive exhibit on the effectiveness of nonviolent activism.

The first session, represented in the photos, brought together parents who wanted to learn from Fiss how to bake and decorate her extremely artful and popular cake pops.

These initial offerings are scheduled for different times and different days of the week in consideration of family schedules.

If you have a special talent or passion that you'd like to share with our community, please contact Jennifer Fiss or Laura Sibson. The marketing and promotion of a business is strictly prohibited. All workshops are offered free of charge.
