Does your child love building things, inventing and shooting off rockets? If so, Science Camp is the place your child will want to be this summer. No science experience necessary.

Camp Staff
Steven Wade (aka “Science Steve”) a National Board Certified Teacher and a member of Penn Charter’s science department and Lower School faculty, will be teaching this week-long science camp. Wade has been teaching inquiry-based science for more than 20 years. He will be assisted by some terrific staff from Penn Charter’s Day Camp.

Program Highlights

Each day will be full of science fun! (Weather may alter certain activities.)
Sample week (Ages 9-12):

Day 1
Robotics and Engineering: We will use LEGO WeDos to make “everything robot.”

Days 2 & 3
Electrical Inventions: We will use Little Bits electronic circuits to design fun electrical inventions and share them on video.

Days 4 & 5
Rocket Science: We will experiment with everything that can make a rocket fly, from candy and cola to seltzer and water.

Sample week (Ages 6-8):

Day 1
LEGO Robotics: Who doesn't like LEGOS? This will be a fun introduction into robotics and programming. Our LEGO WeDo Robots are especially designed for younger children.

Day 2
Got Slime? Everything slimy, gooey, slippery, and sticky! We will explore slime, gooey worms, gravity goo, and jelly marbles. Did we mention it's really slimy?

Day 3
Color Day! It's a color mixing fun day! We will investigate rainbow color milk, UV beads, color mixing tabs and gel, and color chromatography.

Day 4
Blast Off! Everything that blasts off! From baking soda canisters, mentos and cola, to water rockets. Be careful, you may get wet!

Day 5
Electric Fun! Get on board the maker movement! Make your own electrical inventions! Learn about static electricity!

Swim and recreation options included.
