Back on April 6, in a home game, Penn Charter's boys lacrosse squad was sliced and diced by Episcopal Academy, 14-5.
Friday, the teams met again in Newtown Square and . . . PC triumphed, 6-3!
That's a 12-goal swing and the Quakers' much better performance occurred on the road. Go figure. Go, Charter!
Halftime arrived with the score at 1-1. The Quakers then stormed to a consecutive three-pack of tallies and the gigantic upset was on the doorstep.
Senior Luke Stansfield finished with four goals. Senior Dylan Schwartz and junior Blake Target each mixed one goal with one assist and soph Carson Marano toughed out 12 saves.
Earlier, on another part of EA's campus, baseball snagged a 5-2 win as seniors Matt Gorman, Brendan "Chooch" Cellucci (three innings apiece) and Joey Lancellotti (nothing but Ks in his one frame) combined to fire a one-hitter.
Thanks to a wild pitch, senior Steve Lorenz scored in the sixth to break a 2-2 tie. Junior Trajan "Trey" Womack and senior Adam Holland drove in runs in the seventh. On the road, softball was edged by Notre Dame, 2-1.
