Head of School Darryl J. Ford visited Reverend Julian Alexander OPC '34, our oldest alum, at Alexander's home in Florida.
Rev. Alexander wants us all to know that Great Day to Be a Penn Charter Quaker is for everyone! Watch his message.
You can follow all the fun and excitement on March 15 online by checking back here, or by watching #GreatDayPC on social media. Rev. Alexander reports that he watched all the action roll in from his iPad last year and will do so again. It sure is a Great Day to Be a Quaker when we've got MANY awesome OPCs!
Middle School parent Crystal Lucas sent this heartfelt message about why she loves Penn Charter.
Testimonials like this are incredible reminders of why it's a great day to be a Penn Charter Quaker.
My son Isaiah is a 7th grader here at PC. Although we just began our PC journey last year and are still a fairly new PC family, I've already developed a list of things that touch me so affectionately about this community.
I love that when I drop my son off each morning, I know that he is going into the caring and capable arms of people who really want to see him succeed.
I love that when I have a question about anything, I always feel my concerns are taken seriously and listened to with care.
I love that in such a short time, my son has made friends and genuine connections with people who are so wonderfully different than he. I love how protected and safe yet unsheltered the learning environment is at PC.
But most of all, I love that no matter how many late nights he spends on homework, how tired he is during the 40-minute drive we take to get here each day, or how daunted he might feel facing a new challenge or assignment, my son tells me there's no other place he'd rather be. And for me – that's everything.

What Is Great Day?
A day to celebrate all that we love about Penn Charter and to support our school. Our community will come together to tell stories of a favorite teacher, a joyful moment seeing your child thrive, a raucous bus ride home from a big sports win or a proud achievement from your years with PC.
As you fondly recall Old Penn Charter, support the Penn Charter of today and tomorrow.
Judith Hill, our director of libraries, just began her sabbatical to visit libraries in New England and at Oxford! Sabbaticals are just one of many professional development opportunities for faculty at Penn Charter to learn new techniques, meet with peers, experience different schools and grow professionally.
It's a Great Day to Be a Quaker because our faculty strive to become even better teachers for our incredible students!
The faculty is grateful to every single OPC, parent, friend, fellow faculty member and institution who supports faculty professional development at Penn Charter. We are better because of your encouragement and your support. Thank you!
OPCs: If you went to Penn Charter for second grade, you probably remember this animal research project. Charlie K OPC '71, who taught second grade for 17 years, still has some!
Did you complete a portfolio in Middle School with Liz Jones? Chances are she still has it! Liz cherishes memories of all her PC days, and especially the parents anxiously awaiting the return of their children from the Colonial Williamsburg trip! Hear from her here and check out the #GreatDayPC twitter feed for tweets by Liz of portfolio photos and other memories!

Literally thousands of students have experienced Architecture, Art and Design, film and photography classes taught by Granger. It's a Great Day to Be a Quaker when you have class with him!
