The two libraries at Penn Charter play vital roles in the life of the community at school and also off-campus through remote access to library resources. Their mission is to ensure that students and other members of the Penn Charter community become effective users and sharers of information and ideas. We emphasize and encourage reading, the critical evaluation of resources, fostering respect for intellectual property, and the promotion of literacy and shared information sources.
The libraries serve as a learning commons where students, faculty and families come to learn and work (individually and in groups and classes) and to share ideas and knowledge. In keeping with the school's Quaker philosophy, the libraries support diversity in our collections and practices, as well as in the spaces we provide for library users. We promote community-building activities using library and school resources.
The library collections mirror the curriculum of the school, through books and electronic resources, and both libraries contain a variety of fiction titles and magazines to support the diverse interests and abilities of our readers.
