What does a modern performing arts center look like behind the scenes? Take the tour and get to know the space where students will learn and perform.

Tours for the PC Community
Saturday, March 6, 2 to 4 p.m. Student-led tours depart every 15 minutes; last tour at 3:45 p.m.

Tours for Our Neighbors
Sunday, March 7, 12 to 1:30 p.m. Student-led tours depart every 15 minutes; last tour at 1:30 p.m.

“Presenting Mr. Frederick Douglass”
Sunday, March 7, 2 p.m.
Actor Fred Morsell’s powerful play about former slave and abolitionist Frederick Douglass.
For PC neighbors, friends and partners such as Breakthrough Collaborative, Steppingstone and College Prep participants. Free.

“The Wizard of Oz”

We have sold all tickets to the original three performances and the Saturday matinee added to meet the demand for this show. Just as a reminder, the show dates and times are:

The Yellow Brick Road leads to the first all-school musical in the new Earl and Pam Ball Theater. Join Dorothy, Toto and friends to celebrate the 70th anniversary of this American classic. All are invited.

A revival of one of PC’s favorite one-act plays, featuring special appearances by alumni. For OPCs gathered for the 2010 Alumni Weekend.

“You Bet Your Garden”
Wednesday, May 5, 7 p.m.
In our new “green” building, Mike McGrath, host of NPR's syndicated show about gardening, tells you when to plant, what to plant, how to plant, and how to take care of your garden. For Penn Charter parents, alumni, faculty, students, neighbors and friends.

PC’s Got Talent!
Saturday, May 8, 7 p.m.
Bands, ballads, bravura performances. All are invited to this exuberant display of OPC talent.

Ribbon Cutting Jan. 28, 2010

It's Official!

Head of School Darryl J. Ford led a group of loyal PC supporters in an official ribbon-cutting ceremony Jan. 28 for the David L. Kurtz Center for the Performing Arts.

This fantastic new facility for teaching and learning features:

  • 650-seat Earl and Pam Ball Theater with hydraulic orchestra pit lift
  • sprung dance floor
  • state-of-the-art rigging, lighting and sound systems
  • 24-foot wide motorized projection screen
  • choral room and performance studio
  • instrumental room with four individual practice rooms
  • recording studio
  • scene shop, costume room with men’s and women’s dressing rooms
