Tucker & Blake in Nationals Indoor

Two Penn Charter seniors, Chris Tucker and Akeem Blake, headed to New York City over the weekend to compete in the final event of the winter track season, the New Balance Nationals Indoor.

Held at the Armory Track & Field Center, in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan, the event welcomed talented athletes from far and wide . . . and beyond.

"Tuck" participated in the upper echelon sector's 60-meter dash. He clocked 6.97 seconds in the prelims and 6.914 in the semis and missed advancing to the final by under one one-hundredth of a second. The top nine guys moved on. His time was 11th.

Akeem competed in the emerging elite sector. His event was the triple jump and his effort of 44 feet, 10 3/4 inches was good for eighth place overall. Akeem also owned a qualifying effort for the high jump, but opted not to compete.

Watch Akeem's best jump.

Got 6.97 seconds? Watch Chris in the prelims of the 60-meter dash.

Go Charter!

The spirit of Penn Charter athletics is built on a storied tradition of excellence and the belief that the interplay of academics, arts and athletics leads to strong, creative, resilient and flexible people.

Skilled teachers and coaches help our students understand – whether on the playing field or in the classroom – how to collaborate and compete, how to win with grace, and how to handle challenges and setbacks.

Our school cheer is: Go Charter!

We appreciate the student athletes who are now powering PC to great feats, and look forward to welcoming those who will do so in the future. Also, of course, we eternally appreciate the efforts of all OPCs!
