High Scoring Wins for Baseball, Softball

Penn Charter entered Thursday's baseball game vs. visiting Germantown Academy having already clinched the outright Inter-Ac League championship with an 8-1 record.

GA, meanwhile, was coming off a 1-0 triumph over SCH Academy.

So much for letdown fears...

The Quakers stormed to a 17-0 victory, in four innings, and senior righty Joey Lancellotti fired a perfect game with seven strikeouts. PC's pitchers have now racked up 38 consecutive scoreless innings.

The hitting heroes, as you might expect, were numerous, but major praise must go to senior sub Jon Lewis. He batted twice in the fourth and sent two ground ball singles through the left side. The second drove in two runs.

Though Ryan Hood was not on hand, PC's other 13 seniors were honored. Those aside from the three already mentioned: Brendan "Chooch" Cellucci, Oliver Cataldi, Alex Cohen, James Gabor, Matt Gorman, Adam Holland, Steve Lorenz, Brendan Pell, Justus Sanders, Alex Slook and Dom Toso. More photos.

Softball traveled to Agnes Irwin and dominated, 13-0, thanks to 17 hits.

Junior Ava Nicolucci (four innings) and frosh Anastasia Lewis (three) combined to spin a four-hitter with five strikeouts and no walks. Senior Faith Fenton doubled and tripled while bagging four RBI while soph Abby Manion went 3-for-4 with three ribbies. Senior Brigitte Gutpelet also went 3-for-4. Her extras were a double and triple.

Girls lacrosse also played a road game vs. Agnes Irwin. The result was a 12-4 setback.

Senior Courtney Cubbin scored two goals.
