With Win, Softball Advances in PAISAA

penn charter, pc softball, inter-ac, philadelphia private schoolQuestion: When is a home game played on the road?

Answer: When assistant athletic director Ed Foley works his magic.

Monday, Penn Charter's softball squad was scheduled to host Shipley in the quarterfinal round of the PAISAA Tournament. Rain left the field rather messy, however, and Foley, mindful that Shipley has a turf field, made arrangements to play the game out there.

The Quakers, per the rules, still batted last despite the site . . . and only needed to do so six times. The result was an 8-1 victory.

Senior Faith Fenton (four innings) and frosh Anastasia Lewis combined to post a four-hitter with eight strikeouts.

Frosh Maddie Solow paced the offense by going 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI. Senior Brigitte Gutpelet and junior Grace Stansfield had matching 2-for-4, one-RBI performances and soph Abby Quinn crunched a triple en route to collecting two RBI. Also, Fenton helped herself with a run-scoring single.

Multiple factors permitting, PC is scheduled to host Notre Dame for a Tuesday semifinal.
