Who says young'uns can't lead the way?

For maybe the first time in Penn Charter history, seniors are NOT the majority among the football captains.

Two of coach Tommy Coyle's three leaders are juniors and the performance of those guys was crucial Saturday at Ocean City (NJ) High as the Quakers bested Lansdale Catholic, 20-6, in the 2017 season opener.

Thanks to fine blocking from a line with no returning starters, Edward Saydee (above) turned 24 carries into 194 yards and two touchdowns while Terence Thompson blocked a bunt and made numerous hard hits, often near the line of scrimmage. The other captain is senior John Washington, a quality wideout/cornerback.

Football's win completed an OC three-pack of wins over LC.

The soccer squads played Friday. The boys roared to a 5-0 win as senior Andrew Morris and soph Jude Shorr-Parks scored two goals apiece. The girls triumphed, 4-2, thanks largely to two goals by senior Gi DeMarco, who owns a national rep.

Go Charter!

The spirit of Penn Charter athletics is built on a storied tradition of excellence and the belief that the interplay of academics, arts and athletics leads to strong, creative, resilient and flexible people.

Skilled teachers and coaches help our students understand – whether on the playing field or in the classroom – how to collaborate and compete, how to win with grace, and how to handle challenges and setbacks.

Our school cheer is: Go Charter!

We appreciate the student athletes who are now powering PC to great feats, and look forward to welcoming those who will do so in the future. Also, of course, we eternally appreciate the efforts of all OPCs!
