Golf, Polo and Soccer Action

The Inter-Ac League' second invitational golf tournament of the fall did not go as well as did the first for Penn Charter, which hosted and won that one.

But in No. 2, played Monday at Sunnybrook Golf Club, SCH Academy's home course, there were some notable performances.

Patrick Isztwan Golf Winner Penn CharterFirst, freshman Patrick Isztwan posted a score of 33 to outdo every kid from every school. Second, all eight of PC's participants shot 41 or below.

Six scores count in this event and the Quakers finished third with 230 behind Haverford School (222) and Malvern Prep (224). PC's other participants with scores below 40 were seniors Brian Isztwan (38), Patrick's brother, and Noah Schwartz (39).

The water polo squads hosted Upper Dublin for a girls/boys doubleheader. The gals fell, 9-5, and junior Molly Visco tallied two goals. The contest involving the guys might as well have been played in a pinball machine. UD triumphed, 22-20, despite eight goals by soph Lance Rainer and seven by senior Sean McLafferty. Photos.

Boys soccer hit the road for a game vs. St. Joseph's Prep and . . . Forty-two fewer goals were scored. As in none.

Coach Bob DiBenedetto said the Quakers missed a penalty kick and "took 10 bad shots."

Go Charter!

The spirit of Penn Charter athletics is built on a storied tradition of excellence and the belief that the interplay of academics, arts and athletics leads to strong, creative, resilient and flexible people.

Skilled teachers and coaches help our students understand – whether on the playing field or in the classroom – how to collaborate and compete, how to win with grace, and how to handle challenges and setbacks.

Our school cheer is: Go Charter!

We appreciate the student athletes who are now powering PC to great feats, and look forward to welcoming those who will do so in the future. Also, of course, we eternally appreciate the efforts of all OPCs!
