Girls Soccer, Boys XC Win Away

That archrival school in Fort Washington felt like home for Penn Charter's girls soccer team Tuesday afternoon.

Thanks to two goals by freshman Janae Stewart, a goal/assist by senior Giovanna "Gi" DeMarco and strong netminding from senior Mack Listman, the Quakers pinned a 3-1 loss on Germantown Academy.

"Each time we play GA it is exciting and challenging and today was no different," commented coach Darci Spencer. "We battled for 80 minutes and played well offensively and defensively.

"I am very proud of my team and the way we earned the victory."

Boys soccer hosted Episcopal and lost, 1-0, on a goal with 23 minutes remaining. More photos.

Boys cross country headed to SCH Academy and earned a 25-30 victory thanks to third-through-seventh performances by soph Luke Jaspan (19:10), senior Blaise Ciarrocchi (19:19), frosh Drew Gillespie (19:41), junior Alex Turner (19:43) and senior Chris Thomas (19:46).

Noted coach Bryan Skelly: "We ran as a pack, which helped earn the victory."

Water polo dropped a pair of games. The boys lost at home to Episcopal, 14-5, while the girls fell to that same foe, 16-7, in a road contest.

For the boys, soph Lance Rainer and freshman Zachary Kaplan recorded one goal/assist apiece. Soph Hayley Hunt hit on three of six shots for the girls. Junior Molly Visco succeeded on two of three attempts. Photos.

Field hockey was blanked, 6-0, in a game at GA.

Our school cheer is: Go Charter!

We appreciate the student athletes who are now powering PC to great feats, and look forward to welcoming those who will do so in the future. Also, of course, we eternally appreciate the efforts of all OPCs!
