DeMarco to Play in All-American Soccer Game
Penn Charter senior soccer player Giovanna "Gi" DeMarco has been chosen to play in the fifth annual High School All-American Game that will take place in Orlando, Florida, on December 2.
DeMarco was one of 40 elite high school girls soccer players chosen, with 20 playing for the East team — DeMarco included — and the other half suiting up for the West squad. To qualify, players must be seniors whose high school careers have been completed by the time the game is played. The selected players have achieved regional and national awards and will be moving on to play for some of the nation’s top collegiate programs. DeMarco, who started playing on the PC varsity team as an eighth grader, will continue her soccer career at Wake Forest University next fall.
“Gi has been a tremendous player for Penn Charter soccer for five years,” head coach Darci Spencer said. “She is such an offensive threat and a workhorse in the midfield. She is skilled, technical, fit and tough. Gi has been a crucial part of our lineup and a huge asset to the program, which has accumulated three championships during her career. I am so proud of her receiving this honor, and it is a tribute to the impact she has had on our program and to her hard work and dedication.”
DeMarco has scored 67 goals and tallied 36 assists during her soccer career at Penn Charter.
