Virtual Bookstore

Welcome to the front door of Penn Charter's book purchasing collaboration with MBS Direct. The steps you will need to follow once you enter the MBS site are explained below (Middle School first, Upper School below). If you decide to buy your student's books from a supplier other than MBS Direct, please be sure to note the ISBN number of each book on your student's list and be certain to buy the same book.

Middle School

You may register and log in when you enter the site, or when you are ready to finalize your purchase.

  • Click "Buy" to purchase books for your student.
  • Select your student's grade and you will see a list of courses. Click to continue to the next step.
  • Examine your list of books and note that the default is set to select used books when those are available; if you prefer, you may change to select new books. Penn Charter will provide some of the social studies texts your sixth grade student requires and most of the science and math books. Please select all courses listed in your students' grade, except foreign language, which is selected as follows. Seventh and eighth grade students have selected one foreign language; please consult the course list Penn Charter mailed to your family and buy only the books for the foreign language your child will study.
  • Seventh and eighth grade students take some “special” quarter classes; parents should order books for all four quarters of the school year to insure that students have the books they need on the first day of each of those classes.
  • Students are required to bring their textbooks to school on registration day, so be sure to choose an appropriate method of shipping.
  • Click here to buy your books.

Upper School

Have your student's course list on hand for reference. You may register and log in when you enter the site, or when you are ready to finalize your purchase.
  • Click "Buy" to purchase books for your student.
  • Click on the Upper School link. Review the list of courses and, by clicking in the box next to a course, select the courses for which your student is registered. Penn Charter provides some of the science and math books used by Upper School students, so you will not see those courses listed on the site.
  • Examine your list of books and note that the default is set to select used books when those are available; if you prefer, you may change to select new books.
  • Students are required to bring their textbooks to school on registration day, so be sure to choose an appropriate method of shipping.
  • We strongly recommend that you buy all books for full-year and one-semester courses before school begins in September. If you choose not to, please make a note to buy books for the second and third trimester well in advance of the first day of those sessions. Penn Charter does not send reminders about book purchasing.
