Visit the Gap Year Fair
Penn Charter will host a USA Gap Year Fair, open to interested students and families from Penn Charter and beyond, on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, from 1 to 4 p.m.
The fair will begin with an overview from a gap year specialist, from 1 to 2 p.m. Then, attendees will have the opportunity to connect with representatives of various gap year programs focused on education, service and personal growth.
Gap year is a trending conversation among families and schools, and many colleges encourage students to take a semester or year away.
For students and parents interested in taking a gap year, these USA Gap Year Fairs are a source of information and an opportunity to connect with reputable gap year programs focused on education, service and personal growth.
Gap year experiences include opportunities on different continents, learning new languages, volunteering to help nonprofits or benefit communities.
“A gap year as an intentional period of time between completing high school and beginning college when a student steps outside the traditional classroom experience," explained Kathy Cheng, director of USA Gap Year Fairs. "This is a time to explore the world, reflect on personal values and goals, and prepare to take the next purposeful step in life."
USA Gap Year Fairs is a not-for-profit started in 2006 by Dynamy, an internship-based gap year program in Worcester, Ma. Over the past nine years, the fair circuit has grown from seven events to 35 events nationally with more than 5,000 attendees.
