Art Show Exhibit and Opening: Simply Wonderful!
Friday night’s opening reception for "Simplicity," the Triennial Art Show, was a wonderful social event, with members of the community gathering to enjoy the art and each other's company.
The show hangs elegantly in a light-filled space that bears no resemblance to the PC wrestling room. (Except for the scoreboards high on the wall.) The gallery is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Wednesday until 7 p.m.
The show itself has range and depth, and features works by established and emerging artists, plus PC students and teachers. Mixed media, sculpture, watercolors, oils, ceramics, jewelry — view it all and ponder what simplicity means to you.
The art show is an important fundraiser for the Parent Community, so please visit and support the effort. Surely you have a birthday, wedding, anniversary – or a empty spot in your own home – calling out for a work of art.
This slideshow of the opening captures the ways in which this was a successful community-building event: the gallery space was crowded, eager student "docents" offered tours, two walls of the room were papered with messages on the theme of Simplicity, and the night offered endless opportunities to talk with friends.
Congratulations and kudos to the Triennial Art Show Co-Chairs Megan Grugan and Doramarie Presley, and the rest of the art show team: Michelle Hinshaw, Heather Killinger, Soozung Rankin and Laura Sibson.
