Head of School Darryl J. Ford conferred diplomas on 109 members of the class of 2016, making them officially OPC '16 and sending them forward with a message to lead lives that make a difference.
"At Penn Charter, we have provided you an education of consequence," Ford said in his commencement address. "We want you to focus on issues of consequence. And we want you to live a life of consequence."
Kristina Ohemeng and John Mahoney were selected as commencement speakers, and each delivered a thoughtful address about their time at Penn Charter and new challenges and adventures facing the graduates.
Jonathan Weiss was presented with the Phi Beta Kappa Award for outstanding scholarship. Weiss, senior class president, announced that 96 percent of Class of 2016 parents have participated in the Senior Parent Gift to the school, a gift of $108,756 (and growing!) that will support professional development opportunities for the teachers who have schooled their children well.
Sean Foley won the coveted Penn Charter Alumni Award, presented to a senior on the basis of scholarship, character, leadership and athletic ability.
