Athletics: Tradition

The spirit of Penn Charter athletics is built on a rich and storied tradition of excellence. We believe that the interplay of the three A's – academics, arts, athletics – leads to strong, creative, resilient and flexible people – people who are able to adjust, reposition and be ready for any opportunity that comes their way. Skilled teachers and coaches help our students understand – whether in mathematics or tennis – how to collaborate and compete, how to win with grace, and how to handle challenges and setbacks. The combination of the three A's creates the experience we recognize as uniquely Penn Charter.

Athletics: Facilities

The recent renovations to the William A. Graham IV OPC '58 Athletic Center – with its modernized swimming pool, wrestling pit, basketball court and lockers – and the new soccer field and Kline & Specter Squash Center underscore the strength of our athletic program. With four buildings designated for athletics, seven playing fields, one all-weather track, seven tennis courts, four basketball courts, 10 squash courts and one swimming pool, Penn Charter has provided student athletes with resources to match their talents.

Go Charter!

The size, complexity and success of athletics at Penn Charter are evident on a fall or spring afternoon when the fields are pulsing with players, coaches, officials and fans and the air carries the sound of cheering, an umpire's whistle or the crack of a bat on a baseball.

The numbers tell some of the story, too.

Why We Play

"Requiring everyone to play sports creates a positive environment – it keeps you at school longer hours. Playing field hockey was really rewarding. I would say it shaped my experience at Penn Charter."
