Penn Charter Student Participates in Ivy League Model UN Conference

Penn Charter’s Model UN/Global Awareness Club attended the Ivy League Model UN Conference hosted by the University of Pennsylvania at the end of January.

PC students represented Pakistan in committee work that models the UN committee structure and process. Members of the Penn Charter team also participated in simulations on the Russian Revolution, the Vietnam Communist Party in the 1980s, and British Parliament in 2020.

In preparation for the conference, students researched and wrote position papers to argue from the perspective of their assigned country or organization. The goal of Model UN is designed to promote critical thinking and international cooperation and to generate ideas, working papers and resolutions that will solve real-life problems.

Penn Charter boasts 40 members of the Model UN/Global Awareness Club. Of those, 17 attended the conference at Penn. The team also participated in QMUNC (Quaker Model United Nations Conference) at Moorestown Friends, which was focused around Quaker testimonies.
