Old Penn Charter Weekend 2022
On May 6 and 7, Penn Charter alumni gathered to celebrate Old Penn Charter with former classmates and teachers, new and old friends. At the 129th OPC Weekend Awards Ceremony and Reception, our community honored Charlie Kaesshaefer, Liz Flemming, David Wright and Debbie White for their contributions. See photos of the weekend.
Charlie Kaesshaefer OPC '71 received the David P. Montgomery OPC '64 Alumni Award of Merit. Having entered Penn Charter in ninth grade, Charlie K built a life and career at Penn Charter as camp counselor and director, teacher, and Assistant Director of Lower School. Charlie and his wife, Debbie Kaesshaefer Hon. 1689, are proud parents of three, Laura and Megan OPC '04 and Scott OPC '08. Read his full speech.
Kaesshaefer was presented with the award by Matt Kessler OPC '99, who announced the renaming of the award to honor the life and contributions of David P. Montgomery OPC '64. Read Kessler's remarks on Montgomery.
Liz Flemming math teacher, Math Center coordinator and coach, and David Wright of housekeeping and security (and the most fun traffic director), were awarded Honorary 1689 diplomas. Read the induction speeches about Liz and Dave.
Debbie White received the John F. Gummere Distinguished Teaching Award and, on Saturday, the Debbie White Upper School Girls Locker Room in the Graham Athletics & Wellness Center was dedicated in front of many of Debbie's current and former students, players and colleagues. Friday included dedications of scoreboards in the Graham, and the weekend continued on Saturday with the OPCs of Color Networking Brunch and individual class reunions. See all the photos.
