Senior guard Mason Williams now can be found in Penn Charter's 1,000-Point Basketball Club and he gained entry in quite unusual fashion.
With 2:38 remaining in the third quarter of what became an 81-56 blowout of visiting SCH Academy, Williams' point total stood at 996.
SCH then was hit with two technical fouls, Mason planted himself at the line and one, two, three, four swishes later, the cherished number was his!
Mason finished with 19 points and his total now stands at 1,009. He scored nine of his points in the Quakers' outrageously dominant third quarter (28-5).
Senior Will Samuel (19) and soph Ryan "Pooch" Holmes (13) also posted double figures. All 14 varsity members saw action and 10 scored.
In game one of the doubleheader, the girls swept past Agnes Irwin, 60-30. Ten players also scored.
Soph Hayley Hunt and frosh Kait "Katchy" Hnatkowsky (12 apiece) were joined in double-digit territory by soph Kait Carter. Hnatkowsky (seven) was the leading rebounder, junior Emma Maley had four assists and five steals, soph Carmen Williams (Mason's sister) had six boards, four dishes and five thefts, and classmate India Barnes had five/four/four in the same categories.
