Lance Kay and Team Reach Semifinals on NBC Show Genius Junior

Seventh grader Lance Kay (pictured, left) and teammates from Texas and California are contestants on Genius Junior, NBC's new show hosted by Neil Patrick Harris.

In an episode that aired April 8, Kay and friends on team "99 Problems" competed against their peers on team Cheese Cabinet in mental math, backwards spelling, geography of U.S. counties, and memorization—and won!

Lance told the audience, "Math is my happy place," and he sure showed it during the mental math portion! Great job, Lance!

Before the memorization segment, Lance led his teammates in a brief breathing meditation exercise to help them focus, something PC students and faculty alike practice to support learning and wellness.

Team 99 Problems excelled in all areas and reached the semifinals! Watch the full episode to see how much money they added to their genius bank when competing against the Cortex, the game's toughest questions.

Genius Junior airs on Sunday nights at 9pm on NBC.
