PC Community Runs for Peace

Penn Charter families, friends, OPCs, faculty and staff gathered on campus Saturday, Sept. 18 for the Run for Peace in honor of Peter K. Ortale OPC ‘83 and Kenny Caldwell OPC ‘89, who were lost in the 2001 World Trade Center attack. The annual 5K benefits two PC scholarships created in honor of Ortale and Caldwell. This year’s event marked the 20-year anniversary of 9/11 and included a 1-mile family fun walk and limited-edition Run for Peace T-shirts. Virtual supporters from near and far joined in on the fun through social media using #PCrun4peace.

The run was followed by a special dedication of the Kenneth M. Caldwell OPC ‘89 Court in PC’s new Graham Athletics & Wellness Center. The ceremony featured remarks from members of the Caldwell family, Head of School Darryl J. Ford and Chief Development Officer Jack Rogers. Once the court’s new inscription was unveiled, attendees were invited to break in the space by shooting some hoops.
