PC Community Turns Out for Run for Peace

On a beautiful late-summer day, Penn Charter's Run for Peace had a large turnout, welcoming family members of Peter K. Ortale OPC '83 and Kenny Caldwell OPC '89, as well as students, alumni, friends, and members of the faculty and staff. The annual 5K run and one-mile family fun walk, held this year on Sept. 13, supports two endowed funds in honor of Peter K. Ortale OPC '83 and Kenny M. Caldwell OPC '89, who died in the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

"As a community and as a society, we can hope and long for peace, but  peace demands more," Peter's sister, Cathy Ortale, told the crowd. "It demands understanding, tolerance, patience, courage—not passive—active. It's energy, it's finding that common ground even when it seems impossible. ... It has to start small, with me, with you, and with how we show up every day."
