Saydee Signs to Play for the Owls

Senior Edward Saydee, a football phenom and an exemplary young man, signed a national letter of intent Dec. 19 to play football for Temple University.

School is out for winter break, but friends and coaches packed Gummere Library to applaud his achievement. "This is a proud day for Eddie, a proud day for the entire Saydee family, and a proud day for Penn Charter," said Tom Coyle, head coach of PC football.

Saydee was just four years old when his parents, Tarlue and Comfort Saydee, emigrated from Liberia with Edward and his two brothers. In remarks at the signing ceremony, Saydee thanked his parents for their bravery and boldness, and he promised to continue to make the most of the opportunities they made possible. At the signing ceremony, Saydee was flanked by his father and his older brother, Eugene.

A running back, Saydee set school records with 3,514 career rushing yards, 1,446 rushing yards in a season, 19 rushing touchdowns in a season, 25 overall touchdowns in a season, and 150 points in a season.

He finished his career as the all-time leading scorer in Inter-Ac history, with 168 points.
