Upper School Athletes Prepare for Abridged Winter Season

Let the games begin! Penn Charter's winter sports teams are gearing up for a return to competition following the announcement of an abbreviated Inter-Ac season.

Upper School athletes began conditioning on Tuesday, Jan. 19, in preparation for a series of contests planned during the month of February. Basketball, indoor track, swimming and diving, squash and wrestling will all have the chance to face off against a limited number of opponents within the Inter-Ac.

To mitigate risks, PC Athletics has implemented a number of safety protocols, including frequent testing of athletes in high-risk contact sports, frequent mask changes and limited spectatorship. Read the full details in our Athletics Health and Safety Plan.

Athletics at PC have been on hold since a similarly abbreviated fall season ended with a Quaker victory in the 134th PC/GA Day in November. That day's competition was capped off by a memorable last-minute comeback win in the football game.

"We're excited to give our winter athletes an opportunity to practice, play, and just be together," said John Thiel, PC's director of athletics and athletic planning.
