Welcome to 2018-2019

Head of School Darryl J. Ford welcomed the Penn Charter community at the traditional All-School Assembly and introduced the theme for the year, the Quaker belief in continuing revelation.

Ford described continuing revelation as "truth being revealed in an unfolding manner." He told the assembled students from grades 1-12 that the tenet of continuing revelation is more complex than Quaker testimonies such as Peace or Community.

"We must be able to listen for continuing revelation ... we need to be deep listeners. We must seek continuing revelation ... we need to seek truth. We need to be open to continuing revelation ... we need to be open to truth.

"If we listen for, seek and open ourselves to truth, we might experience continuing revelation," he said. Read Ford's full remarks.

Senior Class President David Garnick had the honor of presenting, with Ford, the Class of 2019 flag and addressing the students and faculty gathered in Dooney Field House.

Garnick acknowledged his teachers, past and present, and encouraged students to seize their Penn Charter opportunity: "... the school year ahead is a blank slate for all of us with endless possibilities for exploration, engagement and positive change." Read his full remarks.

Quakers Dozen offered a perfectly harmonious message, Choral Director Joe Fitzmartin's music set to words of T.S. Eliot: "We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time." See the video below.
