On a beautiful September morning, Head of School Darryl J. Ford welcomed the Penn Charter community at the All-School Assembly and introduced Stewardship as the theme for the year.
"Stewardship, our theme, can be defined as the job of taking care of something,” Ford said. "Taking care of something. We are thinking about this theme in two ways: showing care for the environment and showing care for each other."
Ford cited examples of environmental stewardship at Penn Charter: the Green Club, the Environmental Certificate program, and students who helped raise awareness about the Lenape land upon which our school sits.
And he offered William Penn's words on caring for each other: “A true friend freely, advises justly, assists readily, adventures boldly, takes all patiently, defends courageously, and continues a friend unchangeably.”
