Winter Concerts Delight
96 student symphonic band performs onstage

The Upper School Band and Choral Concert, held on Thursday, featured the largest Symphonic Band in Penn Charter history, as well as Jazz Band, Charter Singers, Quakers Dozen and relative newcomers The Oats. See photos

The bands played holiday favorites and introduced the crowd to more difficult pieces, including "Classical Gas," and "Birdland," which featured vocals by junior Morgan Lucero. During the stage transition between band and chorus, The Oats, a piano-bass-percussion trio, offered the Vince Guaraldi piece "Cast Your Fate to the Wind."

QD delivered the heartfelt "My Grownup Christmas List," followed by lighter fare in Tchaikovsky's "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy."

The Middle School Band and Choral Concert is Monday, Dec. 16, at 7:00 p.m. and the Lower School Winter Concert will have Penn Charter singing all the way to winter break on Friday, Dec. 20, at 1:00 p.m.

Check back after each concert for new photo sets.
