Girls Cross Country Repeats as Inter-Ac Champs

Girls Cross Country Repeats as Inter-Ac Champs
Girls cross country won the Inter-Ac League Championships for the second year in a row on Monday at Belmont Plateau. The Quakers' dominant performance included high-placing finishes from Emma Zwall (2nd, 19:28), Julia Dolce (7th, 20:52), Olivia Montini (8th, 21:01), Alicia Newman (11th, 21:22) and Lane Murray (13th, 21:27). Zwall, who won the Inter-Ac in 2018, was outpaced by GA's Isabelle Goldstein, but the Quakers' depth allowed them to clinch the race with a six-point lead on second place finisher Notre Dame.

Nearly every PC runner saw an improvement in 5k time since last year's Champs, when the Quakers placed five in the top ten.

The Quakers will try for another championship repeat, this time at the PA Independent School Athletic Association (PAISAA) tournament, on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Belmont Plateau.

Boys cross country saw strong finishes at Champs from Zion Weeks (15th, 18:30), Jess Anderson (18th, 18:44) and Drew Gillespie (19th, 19:05). The boys will also race in the PAISAA Tournament this Saturday.

Mackenzie Skelly's Record-Breaking 2025 on the Track

Last fall, Mackenzie Skelly burst onto the Inter-Ac Upper School cross country scene as an eighth grader. She won the Inter-Ac championship race by more than 30 seconds and quickly followed that performance up with a nearly 20-second margin of victory in the PAISAA championship less than two weeks later. As it turns out, the speedy Penn Charter lifer from the Philly suburbs was just getting started.
