Gummere Library and iTunes Host Exciting Student Artworks

Penn Charter's Gummere Library is hosting a book launch for The Philadelphia Bestiary, a two-volume, multi-media e-book collection of artworks created by the Class of 2016. The e-book is also now available at no cost through the iTunes bookstore.

In 2012-13, in the context of their Foundation Arts course, students in ninth grade — along with teachers Eva Kay Noone, Ruth McGee, and Sheila Ruen — explored the animal kingdom through radio plays, collage, graphic design, typography, puppets, plays, and animation.

Ruen, chair of the Visual Arts and Design department, assembled their collective works into an interactive electronic book for iPad. The e-book, in two volumes, is now available, for free, through the iTunes bookstore:

The Philadelphia Bestiary Exhibit, featuring works from the e-book, is on view in the Gummere Library, in the Main Building, and will run through November 26.  Visitors can view some of the puppets, graphics, puppet plays, animation, and paintings — and preview the book on Penn Charter iPads.

Stop by to celebrate the wonderful work of the Class of 2016!
