Pre-K at Penn Charter

Penn Charter pre-K is located in the basement of the Memorial Church of the Good Shepard, which fronts on The Oak Road. The pre-K entrance is on the side, accessible at the corner of Stokely and Coulter Streets and from The Oak Road.

Wrestling Room as Art Gallery

The Wrestling Room, a light-filled and airy space, also is used as an art gallery, activity space, and classroom. 

Middle School Balderston During Sanctuary

If not at sports practice, students do homework or read during Sanctuary, the free after-school program for Middle School students.

The wrestling program at Penn Charter practices and holds meets in the wrestling room in the Old Gym.

The Earl and Pam Ball Theater in the Kurtz Center is a 650-seat facility with hydraulic orchestra pit lift, sprung dance floor, and state-of-the-art rigging, light and sound systems. Lower, Middle and Upper school concerts are held here here, as well as the all-school musical, Upper School plays, and a wide range of assemblies and events. 

IdeaLab

The IdeaLab, located in the basement of Richard B. Fisher Middle School, is used by Upper and Middle School. A functional workspace, the IdeaLab features a laser cutter, 3D printers, power tools, green screen, robot pieces and a wide variety of materials. Upper and Middle School courses use the space for projects throughout the year. Faculty from all divisions use the space to develop and enhance their own practice, and to make things for their classes. The Lower School IdeaLab complements this space.

The orchestra pit in Ball Theater is raised and lowered with hydraulic lift. Penn Charter student musicians play during the Upper School musical Les Miserables in 2018.

Kline & Specter Squash Center Interior

The Kline & Specter Squash Center features 10 courts, seating for spectators, and fitness equipment. The Center is located on Strawbridge Campus, across School House Lane from the main building.

The Graham Athletic Center is home to the Penn Charter pool, a basketball court, and girls and boys locker rooms.

Thoughtful Design

The Upper, Middle and Lower school divisions operate in their own buildings, each of which is designed to meet students' academic and developmental needs.  Chigwell Close, the open space between the Lower School and the main building, is an outdoor classroom, a place where students can learn science, write poetry, play, explore or simply enjoy a peaceful interlude. 

State-of-the-Art Facilities

Student players and performers have access to resources that match their talents.

With a total of four buildings designated for sports, Penn Charter offers athletes three grass playing fields, three synthetic turf fields, one eight-lane all-weather track, seven tennis courts, ten squash courts, four competition basketball courts, one climbing wall and one swimming pool. 

The William A. Graham IV OPC '58 Athletics & Wellness Center completed in 2021 features two competition basketball courts, a wrestling room, a bi-level fitness and strength training room, a rock wall, an athletics training suite, two classrooms and a multipurpose space. The Graham also houses the Athletics offices, locker rooms, equipment room and other offices. 

The David L. Kurtz Performing Arts Center which opened in 2010 is a LEED certified building with a green roof and features a 650-seat theater, hydraulic orchestra pit lift, sprung dance floor, choral room and performance studio, instrumental room with four individual practice rooms, recording studio, scene shop and costume room.
