Our employees have access to a collection of comprehensive health care benefits designed to keep you and your enrolled family members healthy. Independence Blue Cross is our partner for medical benefits, prescription drug coverage and innovative wellness offerings, including a new program to provide expanded family-forming benefits. This program supports our inclusive and diverse employee population through fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits.

Penn Charter employees have access to any dentist of their choice through our dental PPO plan offered through United Concordia. The basic plan provides 100% coverage for diagnostic, preventive and endodontic benefits. The enhanced plan offers 100% coverage for diagnostic and preventive, basic, endodontic benefits and oral surgery. Periodontics, crowns, onlays, prosthodontic and orthodontic benefits are covered at 50%.

Penn Charter offers two plans: one group term life for which the school pays 100% of the cost and the benefit is 1x annual salary to a maximum benefit of $112,000 to your beneficiary. A voluntary life insurance benefit is also available, in which employees buy additional insurance for themselves, their spouses and their children. UNUM is our carrier for life insurance.

The school pays employees 100% pay during the short-term disability period, which is 30, 60 or 90 days, depending on the length of service. The school also pays 100% of the long-term disability premium, which begins on day 91. On day 91, the salary goes down to 60%. On day 91, if the employee is still out, they will be paid 60% of their salary by the long-term disability insurance carrier.
