Auxiliary programs at Penn Charter are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment that meets the needs of our Lower School students and families during after-school hours, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Students can sign up for the After-School Program (ASP), After-School Program Complement (ASPC) and Enrichment.

Program Details

After an academically demanding day at school, the After-School Program offers plenty of time for friends, fun and relaxation in an engaging environment designed to help children learn and grow.

During ASP, children learn to balance their leisure time. We do this by providing a structured environment with built-in opportunities for children to choose activities that will enhance their social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth. Children are encouraged to choose activities that will ensure that they will have a daily mix of fun, activity and interaction that's just right for their mind, body and spirit.

2024-25 Contracts, Schedules and Rates

ASP is offered on regular school days from dismissal until 6:00 p.m. Parents may contract on a full-time or part-time basis for the academic year. Parents must complete the signup form each session to enroll their child(ren) in that session. The sign up process will be through the tuition portal this year. Registration will open y August 16th. 

Session 1: Monday, Sept. 9 - Friday, Nov. 22 (11 weeks)
Registration opens by August 16th and closes on September 2nd 2024.

Session 2: Monday, Dec. 2 - Friday, March 7 (12 weeks)
Registration opens November 3 and closes on Nov 30, 2024.

Session 3: Monday, March 10 - Thursday, June 5 (12 weeks)
Registration opens February 15 and closes on March 1, 2025.

As shown in the table below, families may contract for 1.5 hours or 3 hours, and for one or more days of the week. Once enrolled, families may extend their hours for an additional fee but are not reimbursed for unused contracted days/hours.

If your family has financial need and would like to apply for Grace Fund assistance, please contact Jenny Gomez (jgomez@penncharter.com) and John Zurcher (jzurcher@penncharter.com). 

Students should be picked up promptly by 4:30/6:00 p.m. depending on their contract. If your child is enrolled in an ASPC class only, they must be picked up promptly after their class is over. Additional time accrued for late pickups will be billed at $15 per half hour. 
 

Making Changes: Every family can make changes to their contract (days, pick-up) for the first week of each After-School Program session. After this timeframe, requests for changes may not be accommodated. 

Adding time and general questions: if you are interested in adding time mid-session, mid-year, or have general ASP questions contact the After-School team. 

After-School Program Complement

As part of our After-School Program Complement (ASPC) students may opt in to creative movement, soccer, gymnastics, and cooking classes for seven to eight weeks of any of the different After-School sessions. These offerings are for students in grades pre-kindergarten through second grade.

Enrichment
For students in Grades 3, 4 & 5

The Enrichment Program is an optional after-school opportunity, for no additional fee, for students in grades 3, 4 and 5. It is offered for a period of seven to eight weeks three times per year on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. Intramural sports teams and a variety of extracurricular activities such as handbell choir, basketball, community service and many others are offered. Activities vary yearly. Parents will receive information advising them of the specific choices prior to each session's starting date.

Enrichment Details

Efficiencies and Advantages for ASP-enrolled families:

  • Flexibility to contract for children to attend ASP while siblings attend Lower School Enrichment, Middle School sports or Upper School sports.
  • Extended care for students arriving after Lower School Enrichment or Penn Charter Aquatics Club.
  • Discount on extended care for fourth and fifth grade students who enroll in Lower School Enrichment program.
  • Coordination with Learning Support Team to offer ASP care before or after tutoring.
