How to Apply to Middle School
Applying to Penn Charter is a simple and straightforward process, and the following information will help guide you through the steps.
Applicants for September 2020
At this time, there are waiting lists for the Middle and Upper Schools and financial aid is no longer available. Before submitting an application, please contact the Admissions Office at firstname.lastname@example.org in order to determine the feasibility of submitting an application at this time.
Applicants for September 2021
Penn Charter will begin accepting applications for grades 6 through 9 after July 1, 2020, at which time the updated timetable and application materials will be made available.
Basic elements of the admission process:
A fully complete application must include all of the following elements to be considered.
Submit the application for admission online and look for an email acknowledging its receipt. The deadline to complete an application for first-round consideration is on December 1, 2020. Applications completed subsequently will be considered for any remaining spaces on a rolling basis.
If you plan to apply for financial aid, we strongly recommend completing your child's application in the first round and including your financial information with that application. Instructions on submitting financial information for financial aid can be found here.

We will contact you by email following receipt of your online application about arranging a parent meeting to discuss your child and the Penn Charter program as well a student interview
It is important that the teacher recommendations not be completed by your child’s teachers no earlier than Nov. 1. We believe that teachers should be given time to work with your child during the current school year in order to provide us with appropriate feedback about your child’s abilities. Transcript Release Form
After your child's school's first marking period, the official transcript should be sent to Penn Charter. The official transcript includes grades from the past year and the first marking period of the current year as well as any testing records. Please download and print this form and give the signed form to the current school, requesting that the school send the records directly to Penn Charter.
As soon as possible, reserve a test date for the SSAT (Secondary School Admissions Test), or the ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam). You may register online or request registration materials from the Admissions Office. Complete the ISEE or SSAT registration form, listing Penn Charter as a score recipient. Our school codes are listed below. The test may be taken at any test site.
