PC track and field had a strong showing at the Penn Relays this week, placing well in four different events.

On Thursday, Mary McDavid, Peyton Parker, Sara Shipon and Emma Zwall finished ninth in the nation in the Distance Medley Championship. They clocked a time of 11:59.24 and broke the school record of 12:02.9 they set back in March at Indoor Nationals.

Mia Murphy, Ainyae Holmes, Janae Stewart and Peyton Parker placed 25th out of 125 east coast teams in the High School Girls' 4x100 heats. They finished with a season-best time of 50.17, and a clip of their performance can be seen in this highlight reel from the Penn Sports Network.

Jalynn Johnson, Mia Murphy, Milan Polan and Ayana Opong-Nyantekyi placed third in the High School Girls' 4x400 Philadelphia Academic among a pool of 20 local independent and Catholic schools. Their time was 4:09.85.

In a first for the PC middle school track program, Robert Myrick, Mark Butler, Christian Black and Davin Barnett won first place in the Philadelphia Area Private & Charter Schools Boys' 4x100 with a time of 47.48.

Girls lacrosse edged past the Hill School on Thursday by a score of 9-8. On the offense, Darcy Felter, Maddie Shoup and Vanessa Ewing led the way with two goals each. Leah Sax, Mia Ferraro and Charlotte Hodgson added one goal each, and Hodgson sparked the defense with four draw controls and one caused turnover. Junior Hayley Hunt prevented 11 attempts on net, while Molly Visco caused three turnovers and scooped up two ground balls. The girls will compete in the Katie Samson Lacrosse Festival at Radnor High this Saturday.

Boys lacrosse lost to EA 10-4 on Wednesday. The powerful EA squad pulled ahead early in the game and held the PC offense at bay. Senior Gavin Tygh, a national record-setter, is now one face-off win away from becoming the first high school player to exceed 1,200 in his career. He will try to earn that distinction this Saturday when the Quakers travel to Radnor High for tournament play.
